Caffeine Free

A dietary component I do without is caffeine.  I can't even remember the last time I had any.  I've never drank coffee or tea, and the last time I had any soda was when I was a teen (and even then it was very, very infrequently).

Caffeine isn't as dangerous as other food substances, but it doesn't do anyone any favors.  The worst of the lot are these energy drinks, like "Red Bull".  If a person needs energy so desparately that they need an energy drink, it's really time to examine their eating and exercise habits.

As I've mentioned before, regular exercise can reduce fatigue.  An energy drink is just a quick fix, and it will lead directly to a crash.

What also bothers me is how many people don't see through the hype of advertising, and realize how bad these energy drinks really are.  Some countries, like France and Denmark, don't even allow the sale of Red Bull.  But here in the US, Red Bull is free to advertise and sell its products to anyone (of any age).  And sell they have, as Red Bull sold almost a billion cans in the US last year.

Does anyone really think that Red Bull benefits society in any way?  It contains no healthy ingredients, the caffeine is addicting, and the massive amount of sugar it contains will damage teeth.  It's a product the world could do without.
