It's Healthy to Be Happy

As I've mentioned before, I think mental states can have a tremendous impact on long-term health.  This research paper studies this issue and comes to the conclusion that experiencing more positive affect (happiness) leads to better health.

Some of the benefits of frequent good moods are lower cortisol, lower heart rate, and reduced stress response.

I am hoping to learn more about this in a book I just purchased, "Feeling Good is Good For You."
