After thinking more about an online presence versus a real presence, and also Frank Forencich's talk at AHS12, there will be some changes coming to the blog.
What those changes will be, I'm not sure. I'm brainstorming ideas right now. I've reached the point where, in its current form, I'm not getting as much out of the blog as I put in. Some ideas that have crossed my mind:
- Post only once a week
- Do multiple posts once a month
- Turn the comments off
- Write blog posts by hand and then via software have them turned into type
The bottom line is that I feel I'm spending too much time with blog upkeep and imaginary pressure on myself to keep publishing content. I'd rather spend that time with real people or doing real (non-electronic) things.
I've got a few major posts coming this week and then I'll switch gears somehow.

That’s the beauty of podcasts. Its internet, its information, but its social – if you do it with someone else (some podcasts, like Byron Richards, are just one person talking – not as social).
Many bloggers are turning off comments.
Hand writing or dictation software might also help.
Batching posts might could also be more efficient.
This sort of development is inevitable. First we enthusiastically embrace, then we taper off, then we fit the new process/technology into a useful but limited area.
I remember when the internet boosters were all talking about “disintermediation!!” And it was going to all lead to Real Democracy.
