40-Something

Next fall, I turn the big 4-0, and I'm looking to do something special in the physical realm.  What that will be I haven't figured out yet.  I know it is cliche to do this, but I want to do something to mark the year.

So, what to do?  Run a marathon?  I did that years ago, and it wasn't that fun.  Get in perfect shape?  Maybe, but it's all a bit superficial.  I'd like to do something more functional.

One thing I've been looking at is masters track.  Maybe I could do a shorter race like the 100-meter dash.  (At least if you don't win, it's over quick.)  Does anyone run these races barefoot?

Other than that, I'm still on the lookout for other ideas and challenges.

  1. How about hitting benchmarks in a variety of activities? Like a certain number of reps of pullups, pushups, mile time, 100 yd dash time, etc.

    Get strong. Fight sarcopenia. :)

Maybe some type of MovNat obstacle course…

My goal is someday to do handstand BOSU pushups. Definitely a worthy challenge.
